Juvenile Scoliosis

Juvenile scoliosis is a type of scoliosis that affects children between the ages of 4 and 10.

Treatment incorporates play-based activities with Schroth concepts, as well as parent education. The focus is on:

  • Proper postural and spinal alignment in all positions

  • Stretching tight muscles

  • Strengthening weakened muscles

  • Age-appropriate breathing exercises

  • Guidance on bracing

  • Close monitoring of the scoliotic curve

  • Parent education to understand their child’s scoliotic curve and its effects

  • Collaboration with child’s physician or orthotist as needed
